can I expect at my first visit?
On
your initial visit, your physiotherapist will
assess your specific condition. A detailed
history of your injury will be taken and a
full musculoskeletal examination will be performed.
A clinical diagnosis will then be established
to identify and appropriately treat your condition.
Based on your assessment, individual goals
will be created with you, and a specific physiotherapeutic
treatment plan will be initiated.
Should you require other services, such as
massage therapy or custom orthotics assessments
to further aid in your recovery, they are
also offered on-site at all Advanced Rehabilitation
Centre.

x-rays.

are open 6 days a week, with hours ranging

How
much will a visit cost me?
The
cost of a visit depends on coverage and type
of injuries. Motor vehicle accident and Workplace
Injuries have different coverages and procedures.

How long is the waiting list?
We make every attempt to schedule patients
on the same day or up to 48 hours depending
on your availability..
Do
I need a physician referral for treatment?
No
referral is neccessary, however the majority
of insurers require a physician's referral
Is
there OHIP coverage?
Yes,
our Windsor and Tecumseh location are OHIP
Designated Physiotherapy Clinics. An assessment
fee does apply.
Do
you take VISA, Master Card, and Debit
We
accept VISA, Master Card, Debit, Cash and
Cheques.
Am
I covered if I am on Assistance or ODSP?
Yes,
OHIP does cover physiotherapy for recepients
of Assistance and ODSP. Our Windsor and Tecumseh
location are OHIP Designated Physiotherapy
Clinics. An assessment fee does apply.
How
long will it take for me to recover?
Healing
times depend strongly on the nature of the
condition. The treating clinician will discuss
your specific program with you. Some conditions
may feel better after just a couple of treatments.
It is important to note that our goal is also
to prevent further aggravations, so exercise
and posture strengthening programs may be
recommended to minimize the likelihood of
any further occurrences even after you feel
better.
How
many visits to I need to come for? How long
do I need to come?
The
frequency and duration of your treatment depends
on many factors including type of condition,
severity of condition, and your body’s
response to treatment.
During your initial examination, the treating
clinician will provide with an anticipated
schedule and duration of program. Do not hesitate
to ask the clinician any questions or concerns
you may have regarding treatment, duration
and frequency.
Why
do I have to exercise and receive active therapy
as well as passive therapy?
Passive
treatment aims to reduce pain, inflammation
and other factors that pose barriers to the
healing process. Active rehabilitation programs
are vital in restoring normal functions including
range of motion, strength, endurance, balance
and posture.
Why
is it important to exercise at home?
Performing
your recommended exercises is extremely important
in assisting with the healing, range of motion,
and strengthening process. Compliance with
these recommendations will help you return
to all your normal activities faster.
What
is massage therapy?
Massage
therapy is hands on assessment and manipulation
of the soft tissues of the body, specifically
the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments
and joints to affect a therapeutic response
in the treatment and prevention of physical
dysfunction.
Does
massage therapy help with pain?
Massage
can help to alleviate soft tissue discomfort
associated with everyday stress, muscular
overuse and many chronic pain syndromes. If
employed early enough after accidents involving
trauma and injury, massage therapy can greatly
reduce the development of painful muscular
patterning.
Are
there massage therapists on staff? Male or female?
We
have 3 massage therapists on staff, one male,
and two female to accommodate for all patients.
Do
I have to be adjusted by a chiropractor?
Dependent
upon your condition the chiropractor will
diagnose and identify the most appropriate
treatment for your condition to achieve the
fastest possible healing time. If an
adjustment is recommended, they will explain
the risks and benefits of the spinal adjustment
in an easily understood manner. If the
patient is not comfortable there are many
alternatives to adjustment that the chiropractor
will utilize in order to treat the problem.
Can
a TENS device help me?
There
are many procedures that can be used at home
to heighten your recovery time. TENS
(transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation)
can reduce pain, raise docility to sleep for
longer periods and help to manage pain in
order to reduce your medication use.
Products such as TENS may be covered under
your extended health benefits plan through
yours or your spouse’s employer.
