FAQ's
What
can I expect at my first visit?
On your initial visit, your physiotherapist
will assess your specific condition. A
detailed history of your injury will be
taken and a full musculoskeletal examination
will be performed. A clinical diagnosis
will then be established to identify and
appropriately treat your condition. Based
on your assessment, individual goals will
be created with you, and a specific physiotherapeutic
treatment plan will be initiated.
Should you require other services, such
as massage therapy or custom orthotics
assessments to further aid in your recovery,
they are also offered on-site at all Advanced
Rehabilitation Centre.

How

Healing times depend strongly on the nature
of the condition. The treating clinician
will discuss your specific program with
you. Some conditions may feel better after
just a couple of treatments.
It is important to note that our goal
is also to prevent further aggravations,
so exercise and posture strengthening
programs may be recommended to minimize
the likelihood of any further occurrences
even after you feel better.
How
many visits to I need to come for? How long
do I need to come?
The frequency and duration of your treatment
depends on many factors including type
of condition, severity of condition, and
your body’s response to treatment.
During your initial examination, the treating
clinician will provide with an anticipated
schedule and duration of program. Do not
hesitate to ask the clinician any questions
or concerns you may have regarding treatment,
duration and frequency.
Why
do I have to have exercise and active therapy
as well as passive therapy?
Passive treatment aims to reduce pain,
inflammation and other factors that pose
barriers to the healing process. Active
rehabilitation programs are vital in restoring
normal functions including range of motion,
strength, endurance and balance and posture.
Why
is it important to exercise at home?
Performing your recommended exercises
is extremely important in assisting with
the healing, range of motion, and strengthening
process. Compliance with these recommendations
will help you return to all your normal
activities faster.
What
is massage therapy?
Massage therapy is hands on assessment
and manipulation of the soft tissues of
the body, specifically the muscles, connective
tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints
to affect a therapeutic response in the
treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction.
Does
massage therapy help with pain?
Massage can help to alleviate soft tissue
discomfort associated with everyday stress,
muscular overuse and many chronic pain
syndromes. If employed early enough after
accidents involving trauma and injury,
massage therapy can greatly reduce the
development of painful muscular patterning.

there massage therapists on staff? Male
or female?
We have 3 massage therapists on staff,
one male, and two female to accommodate
for all patients.
Do
I have to be adjusted by a chiropractor?
Dependent upon your condition the chiropractor

treatment for your condition to achieve
the fastest possible healing time.
If an adjustment is recommended, they
will explain the risks and benefits of
the spinal adjustment in an easily understood
manner. If the patient is not comfortable
there are many alternatives to adjustment
that the chiropractor will utilize in
order to treat the problem.
Can
a TENS device help me?
There are many procedures that can be
used at home to heighten your recovery
time. TENS (transcutaneous electrical
nerve stimulation) can reduce pain, raise
docility to sleep for longer periods and
help to manage pain in order to reduce
your medication use. Products such
as TENS may be covered under your extended
